Bed of Lettuce

In early September I created a 4'x4' terraced raised vegetable bed on my sloping front yard. It was the second raised bed I created in as many months. In August I created a 4'x 16' raised vegetable bed in the center of my front yard. That one was built using commercial pavers. This smaller bed is made from recycled concrete, similar to the big retaining wall I built earlier this summer, only this bed is dry-stacked rather than mortared. Click the link below to see a slide show of the building of this new bed of lettuce (with some additional photos of my summer container vegetables).

It all looks so sharp and green and well arranged. I really like the dry-stacked concrete instead of the mortar. I guess the real question is how it settles in but the photos make it look like it all fits in a very natural way.
